Where do we find them?

This is the same in both versions of SQL Server so right click on the white space in Designer and you should see towards the bottom an option for Package Properties

Let's move on quickly and choose Package Properties. We then see a tabbed dialog box and regardless of whether you are using SQL Server 7 or 2000 the second tab is the one we want. The tab should be labelled Global Variables.

It is here that we start to notice differences in the version 7 interface and the one in 2000.
